A couple years back during a stressful period in my life, a store pharmacist suggested a generic bottle of over the counter sleep aid in pill form (I can’t remember the brand anymore). It didn’t make me sleepy before going to bed or drowsy upon waking. On several occasions, I took a pill and was able to stay up til morning without feeling tired or sleepy. But as soon as my head hit my pillow, I was able to shut my brain down and fall asleep easily within 5-10 minutes (used to take hours).
Unfortunately, there was a side effect: I took it almost every night over ~2 months; however, as I was running low and started limiting use, I noticed there were withdrawal symptons – agitation, neck pains, and or mild to severe headaches. Took ~1 month to get rid of the pains…it was comparable to Mountain Dew caffeine withdrawal.
